Kim Tso is a writer and consultant to nonprofit organizations. Her personal mission is to provide her readers with the tools they need to participate in economic policy decisions. She has a Masters of Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and previously worked at Just Economics, the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, the Ms. Foundation for Women and the Commission on National and Community Service (now Americorps). She also is active in several community-based and national organizations.

Kim helps people who want to make our communities amazing places to live in three ways:

  1. Her grant writing consulting services raise money for progressive and social justice organizations. She has worked with nonprofits and governments to raise more than $108 million in the last nine years.
  2. Her educational workshops help people tap into their economic and political power to improve their jobs, lives and neighborhoods. For example, her workshops have helped child care workers advocate for higher wages, church groups protest cuts to programs that alleviate poverty, and parents rally their communities to raise money for their local schools.
  3. Her freelance writing encourages and empowers her readers to create economic systems that promote values such as equality, self-sufficiency and community.
